Magaluf Excursions: Els Calderers in Sant Joan
Other than popular tourist attractions that are a short drive away from Magaluf, there are lots of day trip options to nearby places as well. One of such highly recommended places is the Els Calderers in Sant Joan. To be exact, the estate is located at the bottom of the Bonany chapel.
The estate, which has been in existence since the 13th Century, was equipped with its lavish manor in 1750. And the manor, which was built by the Veri dynasty, was later converted into a museum. It is this museum, which tourists today love and visit from all across the world.
Els Calderers is open all through the year and attracts people with a passion for history and antiquities. The sprawling estate also gives people a vivid look into the farming life of the 18th Century. Tools, ovens, stables and other such remnants from the period have been well-preserved at the estate for public consumption. But, before you put it in the “educational and dreary” pile, do remember that it has other interactive activities as well. Wine tasting is organized at the property and the fruits of their exclusive wine cellar are popular amongst connoisseurs of European wine. Shopaholics can feel free to purchase exclusive items produced at the estate, which keep alive the traditions and old world charm of Mallorca. Other than enjoying the fine wine of Els Calderers, you can take a tour of the entire estate. On the tour you will see the main house, its old workshops, a bakery and an old-fashioned laundry as well. There are also sections where local animals are still raised. The most famous amongst them is the black pig.
On special request and advance notice, the estate can be rented as an exotic venue for conferences, banquets, galas and much more. Els Calderers is also a picturesque site for a lavish yet intimate wedding.
